Works in partnership with Deaf Community to enhance the quality of life of deaf people, strengthen the community and advocate for changes that will ensure fundamental rights and freedoms. Aims to achieve equity for deaf people. Activities include: Advocacy; Basic Auslan (Australian Sign Language) community courses; community liaison; education and information distribution; individual, family and community support, advice, casework and referral; outreach to deaf communities in the South Coast region; sign language interpreting - interpreting for the Illawarra/South Coast is booked through 'Sign Language Communications' located at the Deaf Society's Parramatta Office. Eligibility: People and families of those who use sign language as their primary means of communication. Organisations and individuals from the broader community who want to communicate with deaf individuals or to learn more about deafness
