Volunteer program sponsored by St Vincent de Paul Society and ACT Health. Volunteers are matched in a one-to-one friendship with people living in the community who have a diagnosed mental illness. Clients are referred to Compeer by health professionals for matching with trained, supportive volunteers to engage in low/no cost social activities. The aim is to improve the quality of life and self-esteem of program participants through social inclusion, enjoyable activities and the experience of mutual trust in a non-clinical setting.
