The Shepherd Centre - Inclusive Preschools - Wollongong

A charitable organisation helping children with hearing loss learn to listen and speak. They have been enabling children with hearing loss to develop their listening and spoken language, literacy, and social skills. The vast majority of their students develop speech, language and social skills on par with their hearing peers. The Preschool Programs offer small, language-rich environments to support children both with and without hearing loss in an integrated environment. In each Preschool, there are 10 community places (for children without hearing loss) and five places for children with hearing loss, aged three to five years. Both the Liverpool and Wollongong Preschools were rated as exceeding the National Quality Standards (NQS) for early childhood education in all seven of the assessed Quality Areas.
