The Shepherd Centre - Newtown

A charitable organisation helping children and young adults with hearing loss learn to listen and speak. Their programs meet the needs of children of all ages; their early intervention system for babies and toddlers, through to their mentoring program, Hear for You, which supports school-aged children and teenagers. They have been enabling children with hearing loss to develop their listening and spoken language, literacy, and social skills. The vast majority of the students develop speech, language and social skills on par with their hearing peers. They currently support over 700 families all over Australia with Online Telehealth for rural and regional areas and seven in-person centres in NSW and the ACT. The global platform HearHub supports health professionals working with children with hearing loss all over the world.
