Yooralla Electronic Communication Devices Scheme (ECDS)
Supplies communication devices and relevant accessories for residents of Victoria who have a permanent or long term disability resulting in no speech, or speech that is difficult to understand. Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists can apply for clients over 65 or ineligible for NDIS. Communication devices; voice output software ipads, tablets and apps, specialised switches and mounting systems to access to devices are available through this scheme. Mobile phones are not provided through this scheme.
Mainstream devices are not funded through this scheme e.g.Mobile phones, computers and laptops. Training is available for the local referring therapist and there is a 12 month review process. Applicants must be able to use electronic communication devices to independently communicate. Facilities (i.e. nursing homes, hostels or community residential units) are eligible to apply.
