Provides Duty Lawyer Services, Advocacy, Legal Advice, Casework and Community Legal Education to people living in the Wimmera region. Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is a state-wide organisation that helps people with their legal problems. They focus on helping and protecting the rights of socially and economically disadvantaged Victorians. Lawyers are in offices in most major metropolitan and country regions but also fund private lawyers to provide legal services to the public. They can help in areas of criminal law, family law and some civil law matters. VLA is a statutory authority established by legislation called the Legal Aid Act 1978 (Vic).
