Chanelle McKenna has cerebral palsy. When she was only eleven years old, her life changed forever when her right to parent was stolen from her.

Her mother agreed in unison with medical professionals and school staff, that she should be involuntarily sterilised. She was taken, without her consent, to a hospital and a forced hysterectomy was performed.

Chanelle uses a speech-generating device to communicate throughout this story.

It's the sixth episode of our series, We’ve got this: Parenting with a Disability, produced by Eliza Hull, a mother who has a neurological condition, 'Charcot Marie Tooth'.
