Rules and regulations about where people can go, what they can do and what they should wear have been put in place across Australia to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

What are the rules where I am?

Different states, territories and in some cases, local government areas (LGAs) have different rules in place which we all have to follow to protect our communities. Where you are and what level of restrictions are in place will determine the rules that apply to you. For example, currently, both Metro Melbourne and Regional Victoria are on the Third Step of the Victorian Roadmap to reopening. Rules are changing all the time so it is important to check your state or territory restrictions regularly.

Check your State or Territory Government's website for the current rules and requirements that apply to you or call the Disability Information Helpline and we can tell you over the phone or in a way that is accessible to you.

Do I have to wear a mask?

If you live in Victoria, then yes you have to wear a mask or face covering when out in public spaces. In other places, your current restrictions might require or strongly recommend you to wear a mask in certain situations, especially when physical distancing is not possible or limited. There are some lawful exceptions for some people with disabilities and breathing difficulties. For more information on when and how to wear a face mask for people with a disability, you should check Disability and Wearing Face Masks - COVID-19.
