Special Olympics Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that transforms the lives of people with intellectual disability through sports participation and competition. Special Olympics is not just one single event. It happens year-round in communities across Australia. Sports include: alpine skiing, aquatics (swimming at all levels), athletics, basketball, bocce, cricket, dance, figure skating, football (soccer), golf, gymnastics, sailing, softball, tennis, tenpin bowling. Through sport, athletes are given the opportunity to develop skills, make friends and be part of the community regardless of their skill level. Under 8 years welcome but unable to compete.
