Permanent blindness is the permanent loss of sight, whether it be a full or partial loss. People that are fully blind are not able to see anything, including light. However, people that are partially blind can see some things to varying degrees depending on the severity of their blindness.

Permanent bilateral hearing loss is the permanent loss of hearing in both ears. The degree of hearing loss in each ear may be the same (symmetrical), or it may be different, where one ear is worse than the other (asymmetrical).

Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) refers to a group of inherited metabolic diseases which is caused by a specific missing or faulty enzyme. People with a form of this disease are permanently affected with progressive cellular damage, which affects their appearance, organ and system function, physical abilities and cognitive development (in most cases).
