The Board of the National Disability Insurance Agency announced on Thursday 17 October, that Mr Martin Hoffman has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the NDIA. Mr Hoffman will take up his three-year appointment on 4 November 2019.
This week’s announcement comes nearly six months after Robert De Luca’s resignation as CEO of the organisation in April. Mr De Luca went on to become CEO of Zenitas Healthcare, a community health organisation, which has recently been acquired by the private equity firm of Adamantern Capital Management and Liverpool Partners.
Vicki Rundle was appointed the Acting Chief Executive Officer in the National Disability Insurance Agency on 30 April 2019, pending the appointment of a permanent CEO. Vicki’s usual role in the NDIA is Deputy CEO, Government, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement. Ms Rundle will have been in the role of Acting CEO for a total of six months.
Until recently, Mr Hoffman was Secretary of the NSW Department of Finance, Services & Innovation with responsibility for service delivery organisations, including Service NSW, NSW Fair Trading, SafeWork NSW, Revenue NSW and the Regulator of the State workers compensation and third-party motor insurance schemes.
“I am tremendously honoured to have the opportunity to work with participants, the staff and partners of the NDIA, providers and the disability sector to deliver on the promise of the NDIS for each participant.” - Mr Hoffman
He also led the recent strategic planning task force—initiated by the Hon. Stuart Robert MP, the Minister for Government Services as well as the National Disability Insurance Scheme—to set up Services Australia, as part of the Australian Government’s commitment to put people at the centre of government. There has been media attention on Mr Hoffman’s previous associations with the current Minister for the NDIS.
Previously, Mr Hoffman was a Commonwealth Deputy Secretary, Chief Executive Officer of Ninemsn, and held senior roles in Fairfax Media, Optus, and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
Mr Hoffman holds a Master of Business Administration (Hons) from the International Institute of Management in Switzerland; a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University; and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.
